Chalk Paint Farmhouse Lamp Makeover

I'm SO excited to be sharing this DIY with y'all that I did this past weekend! I had a little bit of time on my hands and thought it would be nice to browse around the thrift store a little bit! I went in looking for nothing in particular and walked out with this $6 brass lamp! Ugly right?

But the curves on this beauty were screaming - "MAKE ME PRETTY AGAIN!" So I scooped her up and thought I could try making this into a farmhouse lamp for the living room! So then my next thought was - shoot. How do I do that?! My MIL has been using chalk paint & sea salt paint for a while and loves it, so I thought I'd give it a go too!! I picked up some FolkArt Chalk Paint in Castle & FolkArt Antique Wax from Michael's! I believe they were $6 each and I had a 40% off one item, 50% one item and 15% off entire purchase coupons so I got them for quite a steal! I took the lamp home and gave her a really good cleaning & popped the lamp shade that was on there off because it was butt ugly! I've never used chalk paint before and I'm really bad about reading directions so I just went at it! I gave the lamp base one coat of the castle color..

And then another..

Then I decided I maybe should try to read a little on how to use the wax because I was already really loving the color of the lamp and I didn't want to ruin it! So I then brushed on in small areas the antique wax with a brush and immediately wiped it off with a baby washcloth on the smooth side! And y'all - I loved how it turned out!

I had found a lamp shade for $5 at the same thrift store the summer before that needed a finial and could never find a lamp that was either cute enough or inexpensive enough to purchase! So I installed the lamp shade and boom, I had a new to me, farmhouse lamp! And I was ALL the heart eyes!! Here is a side by side for ya once more!

She's pretty snazzy looking don't ya think? And now I'm obsessed with the chalk paints and I'm ready to chalk paint all the things inside my house! (But I promise I'll take it slow! 😉) I did the same technique to a $5 walmart mirror we had but I think it is missing something so once I figure out what it needs, I'll be sure to share it with y'all too!! Tell me below what things you have made over with chalk paint! What should I try next?? Thanks for popping in!! **All opinions are my own!**
