$100 Room Challenge | TV Gallery Wall Week Two

Hi ya friends! I'm back for week two of the $100 Room Challenge, hosted by Erin over at Lemons, Lavender and Laundry ! For a quick reminder - we have $100 & just 4 weeks to transform a space! Back in July I chose to makeover Liam's bathroom for a coastal look to compliment his nautical nursery! This month I'm at it again transforming the TV wall in our living room!

Last week I shared what the living room TV wall looked like before we moved in and now what it looks like with our furniture and baby toys thrown into the mix! Not very cozy!

My plan of attack was to create a cozy focal point to help bring a homey feel to the space and start the domino effect of how I plan to decorate the space as we settle in.

So this past week we changed out the TV stand from the cheap black one we had to an extra TV stand we had upstairs given to us by the hubs grandma! The TV stand she had given us was a solid wood, great quality t.v. stand. The only issue I have with it, is it's more cherry colored than brown lime the rest of our wood hues downstairs.

I think this TV stand in my opinion has already helped warm the room right up. (And maybe the fall decor too 😉). And from far away and in the light - the difference in the woods isn't so terrible. But let me give you a closer look.

So I took some leftover stain I had in the garage and gave a shelf that came out of the TV stand a quick wipe down to see if I could create more of a brown tone. (Now I just did it over top of it, no prep or sanding before hand because I had minutes before a sleeping babe woke from his nap!)

It made the shelf a lot darker than I would have liked. And let me tell you guys - this thing is so heavy that once we got it into position in the living room - there is no moving it again to take outside and stain. So I put the stained side down and went ahead and set the TV on there.

For the time being, I'm not sure what my plan of attack is. I don't know if I will leave it, paint it - I really, really don't want to! Or sweet talk my hubs into helping me take this outside and sanding it down and restaining it!

But because I am not sure where my budget is going to go - it will be a last week decision for sure. I have researched TV wall mounts and it seems I will be spending $16-$35 for a wall mount which is GREAT. I was so worried it would eat up a lot more of my budget!

I browsed the craft stores for my wall decor and it just so happens michaels is having a sale for 70% off frames this week. 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♀️ SCOOOOOOOORE! So that is what I plan to do this week is purchasing because my sweet boys first birthday party is this Saturday and mama is off crying a river.

So while I'm away party planning - tell me in the comments below - what would you do with the TV stand? Leave it, paint it, re-stain it? Thanks for your help friends!
