Room Transformation Challenge: Week One
Hey-oh! Week one is here for the room transformation and I've already called it quits. JUST KIDDING. :-) But I have already made adjustments to what is going to happen in here. And you'll learn each week what I've adjusted, so let's start with this week! Week one consisted of painting the guest room. I had pondered multiple colors to put in here. Sea salt (which is in my powder room on the main floor), revere pewter, a pale pink..etc, etc. But then I had to keep in mind, I photograph lots of sessions in here. And I love the wall color in the backgrounds. It's extremely classic and very neutral for any & all sessions. So I made the bold move to NOT paint the room. Why change a good thing you know? Here is the color for example in my sessions -
So pretty right? And it's so cool to see the temp it gives off depending on what time I shoot in there. I love it. It's in all our main living areas and bedrooms (other than the master). And I just truly do enjoy the color. It's called Agreeable Gray by Sherwin Williams.
So to keep myself productive this week, I have decided to add crown molding to the room & arrange the furniture to how I *think* I'd like to have the room set up. I have never, ever, ever put crown molding in ANYWHERE. And to give myself even more of a challenge - this bedroom has an angled wall when you first walk in. So unfortunately, it won't be easy peasy, 90 degree angles. But I just know I can do it. Or maybe I can have my dad do it! ;-)
My initial idea for arranging the furniture in this space is to put the bed sideways on the main wall to make it more a day bed. These rooms are not that large so any extra room I can gain, the better. I scored a *FREE* wicker chair from a business going out of business that I'm going to makeover and set near the window with the nightstand next to it. Across from that wall, I plan to keep the dresser in the same location just moved down closer to the door. *Possibly*. I'm trying to keep my eye out for a tall dresser to replace this large one. So that is a little up in the air for right now. But for the most part, everything is sort of still in the same spots just tweaked a little. I still don't know what I'm going to be doing with that iron door. Maybe a head board or focal piece. Who knows.
But once the crown molding goes up, I will be sure to update you all along with the budget. So as of right now here I am:
Bed: $0 Dresser: $0 Nightstand: $0
Wicker Chair: $0 (Score!)
Budget left: $100
Now friends, the easiest & CHEAPEST way to makeover a room is always paint! I promise you that! I prefer lighter, neutral colors on my walls. It's easier to change with the fads! We just had the house built and painted so I lucked out here. But I have bought a can of paint and all my supplies for a merely $30 which is only 30% of my budget. That's a LOT left over to still makeover your room! Or have left over paint from a previous room?? Use that! I plan to do that with our laundry room!
So what do you think guys? Is this making you want to make over a room along with me? Let's do this together! See you soon! XO.
