Our Story
Hi y'all! Thanks for stopping by my blog! Today's post is a much needed one because I want to give you a little story on how we got to here today!
Nick & I's story starts back in 2012. We met, we moved in together, we got engaged, we got married, we built a house and we had a baby. Y'all this all happened in a 3 year span. Needless to say, we don't like to waste time. Because life's too short & when you know something is right, we jumped in with both feet. We are still learning how to have a great marriage, how to be great parents and how to be a team. Marriage can be hard work but it can also be the funnest work.
We have been in our home for 1 year now. And since I found out I was pregnant 1 week prior to moving in - there's still boxes all over the place needing to be unpacked. (It's funny how I thought my energy and time would come back AFTER having the baby!) But Liam has inspired my creative side and has brought out this want and need to do all the things. (He brings out the best in me, I just love him so.) Since having that sweet baby boy, I have taken my photography business so much seriously & have watched it truly launch into what I have been wanting in just the past 3 months since my brand relaunch!
Once I got my photography business (Sweet Magnolia Photo & Design) under control, organized and a truly thriving business, I couldn't help but share how proud of the home I was creating. It was becoming this place of rest & relaxation and I just wanted to share it with all my friends and family on instagram. (Because y'all, instagram is the bees knees.) I just kept sharing more and more and realized, I wanted to share a story with those pictures and here I am. Writing this post to you today!
On my blog, you will see a little glimpse of this photographer's life at home. Hence, Sweet Magnolia At Home. I'll share with you my decor, tips & tricks, my adventures in being a mama, how I try to create a meaningful marriage, the silly stories of my horrible cooking skills, intimate gatherings & large parties, my shopping finds and more. I guess all things I love at home!
So let me let you in on a little bit more about me. I'm a wedding & portrait photographer. I'm really close with my family, Nick thinks it's time to cut the umbilical cord. ( He just doesn't get it y'all. ) Nick moved me out of the country where I'm use to 7 acres of land being the minimum yard size to a development where houses are 7 feet apart from each other. To say I have been culture shocked, is an understatement. Nick is a city boy through and through. And you can take the girl out of the country, but you can't take the country out of the girl right? But let me explain that a bit to you. I don't farm and I'm deathly afraid of chickens. But that simple, country living & slow paced life is what I'm all about. Where every neighbor is just "down the road", you know where everyone lives, and that large school district with just 120 kids max in your graduating class is just one "big", small town. So small, the parades last all of 5 minutes so they go up and down the streets a few times. That is what I dream of for Liam. Thank goodness my parents will never leave there so Liam can get that taste of life. I love the south. Not the heat but the traditions and the charm. My great grandparents came from the southern states and that must be where I get my love from. I'm a give-me-all-the-pineapple-things kind of gal. That & cupcakes. You could pay me in cupcakes and I'd be just fine with that. My body is made up 85% of cupcakes. The other 15% is pizza. I eat like a 5 year old y'all. Well that's enough about me for the day. I could talk your ear off that's for sure!
I can't wait to have you along for the ride. XO.
